What is Lyrica?

Lyrica affects chemicals and nerves in the body that are involved in the cause of seizures and some types of pain. The exact way that it works is unknown. Lyrica is used with other drugs in the treatment of some types of seizures. Lyrica is also used for the management of postherpetic neuralgia (nerve pain caused by the herpes virus or shingles) and for diabetic peripheral neuropathy (pain from damaged nerves that happen with diabetes).

rosiglitazone (Avandia) or pioglitazone (Actos) for diabetes. You may have a higher chance of weight gain or swelling if these medicines are taken with Lyrica.
any narcotic pain medicine (such as oxycodone), tranquilizers or medicines for anxiety (such as lorazepam). You may have a higher chance for dizziness and sleepiness if these medicines are taken with Lyrica.

How should I take Lyrica?

What happens if I miss a dose of Lyrica ?

Take the missed dose of Lyrica as soon as you remember. However, if several hours have passed and it is almost time for the next dose, skip the missed dose and take only the next regularly scheduled dose. Do not take a double dose of Lyrica to catch up.

What happens if I overdose on Lyrica?
